Teresa Cotner proposes that the DaDa club find a way to participate in Artoberfest next year. It also suggested that the club collaborate with other Art Dept. clubs. Local art teachers might also be interested in participating alongside our group. Participation in this event should heighten our collective profile.
CAEA conference will be held Nov. 18-21, 2010 in San Jose . Students will be able to help set up for the conference on the 17th of November.
Proposal: Use the current club budget to disperse to CAEA participants for trip expenses.
NAEA conference will be held March 2011 in Seattle .
The hope of the club is to be ready to join the NAEA as official members for next year.
BMU Gallery Application:
-We will need to submit examples of artwork done by art education students. Please let Lauren know if you have pictures of artwork or would like to have pictures taken of your artwork to help out with this process. Otherwise, pictures can be e-mailed the club e-mail: CSUC.DaDa@gmail.
-Lauren will be submitting a draft for artists’ statement for the exhibition application. Everyone is encouraged to respond to with suggestions or comments.
-Application should be submitted following our next meeting (10/14/10)
Clarification about AS Event Grant – The grant would likely only apply to brochure (or catalogue) for the Art Education Exhibition, which would have to be given out free of charge, the grant is not allocated for the purpose of fundraising
Since the BMU would offer means of advertising the show, the catalogue, as well as the grant are likely unnecessary
Fundraising and Events: Brainstorm
-Button-making machine to use as a money-maker (would AS Event Grant apply to buying this machine?) Free buttons advertising the art education exhibition could be given out, later the machine might be used for fundraising? Selling larger buttons of club-members’ artwork, our logo, etc.
-Booth in Free Speech area to promote club (include merchandise (artwork, Christmas cards, bake sale, etc.)
-Bring in guest artists for our meetings
-Snacks for meetings

New Meeting Time
Our meeting time will be changing to 2PM at Taylor 201 every other week. Our next meeting is this coming Thursday, the 16th at 2PM.
Meetings may start early, so you are welcome to show up to Taylor 201 at 1:40 for any meeting, or rely on our twitter/facebook updates which will have frequent and consistent reminders for every meeting, and in the case of an early meeting, time reminders.
